TCP advocates for the widespread adoption of clean burning technologies, sustainable fuel alternatives and policies that support energy poverty alleviation for those who depend on biomass as their primary fuel around the world. We do that by

1. Creating awareness of issues surrounding charcoal consumption and production in developing economies, and ways that can be made more efficient and sustainable,
2. Advocating for the charcoal briquette sector on issues that move the sector forward such as fuel standards and VAT relief.
3. Advocating for the development and use of more sustainable and renewable biomass feedstocks, such as bamboo, trees grown for energy, etc.

Charcoal Briquette Producer Associations

TCP encourages briquette producers to create a community of practice to share knowledge and leverage mutual skills.  In Kenya, we have helped create the United Briquette Producers Association (UBPA), which brings together producers, distributors and related businesses in Kenya for events and networking.
